a poem, by Myrna Perez

A clarion call,
Pure and melodious;
A note borne by winds:
zephyr and gale alike.
Arms outstretched and eyes
closed, it pulls me across
the blue underbelly of the world.
Floating in the cool peace
I am vitally alive; no Ophelia's lot
Do I seek.

I lift my voice
And join in the song
of the Universe: a throbbing
endless joy. Sorrow touches me
even here; my tears lost in
the rivers of the world.
I evade despair,
my soul consumed in song.
I rise, dripping;
and embrace reality.
